Frikywa Bell

We had our Frikywa (Free-chee-wah) bells built larger than usual by request from many of our customers. These bells measure 6 inches long and are 4 inches across. They produce as much or as little volume as needed.

These Frikywas are hand hammered by experience craftsmen in Ghana West Africa. Also known as the Grello Bell, Pod and African Castinet.

The Bell is typically played using a metal thumb ring. However, due to the larger size, we felt it was best to offer our Frikywa bells with a metal mallet rather than the traditional thumb ring. Many customers complained the thumb ring was difficult to use and did not produce the range of tones desired.
