The Shekere (shaker) is an important African instrument for the purposes of accompanying the Djembe or any drum circle.
This Cauri Shell Shake is netted with a strong nylon cord and produces a crisp, rail like, sound. The sharpness or crispness of the Cauri shell falls between the Grain and the Bead Shekeres.
This instrument is very versatile and often found in many styles of music. In Africa, it is mainly found in Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Benin and Sierra Leone.
Constructed from a durable dried and hollowed gourd with a netting of Cauri Shells.
