The Shekere (shaker) is an important African instrument for the purposes of accompanying the Djembe or any drum circle.
This Grain Shaker is netted with a strong nylon cord and produces an eathy and more subtle sound than than the Cauri or Bead Shekeres. The seed used on this authentic african shaker strongly resembles an Almond but is much harder.
This instrument is very versatile and often found in many styles of music. In Africa, it is mainly found in Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Benin and Sierra Leone.
Constructed from a durable dried and hollowed gourd with a netting of Hard Seeds.
These gourds are amazingly durable.
Little care is needed, simply wipe with a slightly damp cloth. No oils or cleaning agents should be used. Do not expose your shekere to long periods of direct sun light or to excessive moisture.
