Bata Drum

Authentic Bata drums from West Africa. Constructed from a single piece of legally harvested Masonia wood and rubbed with coconut oil for a deep rich luster. A very beautiful drum indeed!

The Bata drum originated by the Yoruba people of Nigeria. The two headed Bata drum is played with two hands, one on each head as the drum lays across your lap. It's a like having two drums in one, what great fun!

A special hard wax is applied to the drum's bearing edge. The bearing edge is the edge of the drum where the head stretches over the shell. The wax reduces the loss of moisture in the wood which helps to prevent cracking. The bearing edges are rounded very smooth for comfortable playing. These Batas are is laced using durable, stretch free alpine rope and are easy to tune.

The goatskin head on this drum is a medium weight. The spine is centered for maximum performance and durability. Dare to be different. Leave the Djembe at home once in a while a take a Bata.
