This Talking Drum measures approximately 16 inches tall and 7 inches in diameter. We had these new Talking Drums strong with durable nylon cord rather than leather. The leather is cool, but requires more maintenance as the knots tend to come untied. These drums do come with a Talking Drum mallet.
We all know drums are the oldest instruments in the world and are often used to communicate. These Dondo drums, also known as Talking Drum, Adondo, Atumpan or Gan Gan drums are unique in that they can simulate the inflections of the human voice. These drums are mostly used in Northern Africa. Their pitch is changed, while playing, by simply squeezing the drum under your arm. They are great fun to play and accompany any drum in the circle. These drums feature; goat skin heads, construction of a single piece of wood, strong leather lacing for easy tensioning while playing and durability. A specially designed beater is included so you can give your hands a break. The Talking Drum is a very light and portable drum, easily carried to your drum circle, percussion ensemble or jam session to add some variety.
